Stories from students past and present

Marya, mom of Nathaniel

My son was having trouble with his writing and spelling. Traci came in and did a thorough assessment to pinpoint the specific areas in which he needed help, and then put together a plan -- based on proven methods and strategies -- to get him to where he needed to be.  The sessions were enjoyable for him, for the most part, and he improved dramatically over their time together.  It was a great relief to know that I had Traci's support and assistance in this critical area.  Homework is much less of a struggle now that his writing and spelling better. Thanks, Traci.

Traci was of immeasurable help with my reading challenges. She was able to give me tips and tricks to help me hear vowels and breakdown consonants in word structure. Her patience and sanguine personality allowed me to walk through some of my more difficult roadblocks with grammar and spelling. I was never properly analyzed or tutored as a student going through school and started working with Traci after I graduated from college. Nonetheless I found her lessons to be grounding and practical and would recommend to anyone with a reading challenge at whatever stage of development they are.

Casey, mom of Harper

Traci was instrumental in getting my son the reading services he needed at his public school. I hired Traci when my son was in the second grade. I knew something wasn’t right with his reading progress, but I had been told things like “he is young for his class” and “he will catch up” since the start of 1st grade, when in my gut I knew it was more than that. But I waited. A fellow parent in my kids second grade class recommended Traci after I told her his struggle and at this point it was the recommendation of his teacher that a tutor could help. Traci must have listened to me on the phone for 45 min when I told her about my child’s reading struggles. She was so supportive and just got it, and we scheduled a meeting. She was a perfect match for his needs. Not only is she a skilled tutor, she is kind, fun and truly cares about her students.

Traci helped me advocate for my son at school by writing a detailed letter explaining everything she had seen in 6 months of working with him, his strengths and his struggles. This letter was instrumental in getting him evaluated for an IEP at his public school. She continued to work with him for the next year while he started his “SETTS,” which consisted of small-group intensive phonetic instruction at school with a special education teacher 4 times a week. I am SO happy to report that my son is now in 5th grade and is ABOVE grade level in reading and is super confident and proud of his achievements. He worked with Traci for about 2 years.

Chris B., father of Marilyn

Remember back when our daughter Marilyn was struggling with reading in the 1st grade, and you helped to get her up to speed by the end of the year? Well, she is moving on to high school next year, doing wonderfully well, especially in reading and writing. We were just thinking fondly of you and your assistance! Thanks again.
